FARMINGTON — Barry Prescott Chandler, 61, of Jay, died on May 29, at Franklin Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

He was born Jan. 23, 1952, in Farmington, the son of Daniel and Beatrice (Whitney) Chandler. He was educated in the schools of Farmington and graduated from Mt. Blue High School, Class of 1971. He was employed for 20 years at International Paper Co. In Jay, for nine years at Champion Paper Co. and most recently at Verso Paper Co., until ill health forced his retirement this year.

Barry was a member of Maine Lodge 20, AF & AM, the National Rifle Association, the Maine Trappers Association, Local 14 Union of Paper Workers and the Studebaker’s Club. He was a life member of the Friends of American Vets. He enjoyed being at his camp at Clearwater Lake, trapping, hunting, fishing, and he especially enjoyed ice fishing.

He is survived by two daughters, Tanya Nalisnik of New Jersey, and Tracy Chandler of Massachusetts; two brothers, Bruce Chandler of Ellsworth and Adrian Chandler of New Sharon; one sister, Cherrilynn Chandler of Monmouth; and three grandchildren.
