I read with interest Donald Dubuc’s rebuttal letter (May 23) to Rep. Michel Lajoie’s column (May 12). It is amazing how people can see things differently.

I think that Lajoie made a lot of sense in his column. All Mainers deserve and need health care. I don’t think that it is right for Gov. LePage to refuse federal funds for Medicaid that would cover Maine’s costs for the first three years.

I appreciate what President Obama is trying to do for all Americans.

I understand what Dubuc is saying. The money comes from all working people’s pockets, but if Mainers don’t do all they can to ask for their own rights and medical needs, those federal funds will go to other needs outside of Maine and Maine residents will still have to pay out of their pockets.

It is a matter of making sure that the people’s hard-earned tax money is directed where it is really needed. It is the morally right thing to ask for.
