Maine’s much vaunted Sen. Susan Collins just sold state agriculture down the river, and took from the people the right to know what they are eating.

The Senate passed a bill that takes away a state’s rights to demand labeling on food sold in Maine, or any other state.

I don’t know how the majority of Mainers feel about genetically modified organisms, big concentrated animal farming organizations, or chemicals and pesticides, but I don’t want to eat foods that come from concentrated animal feeding operations, loaded with hormones and GMOs, or corn, soy and canola containing all these things.

Why can’t the people of Maine and other states demand labeling if products contain GMOs?

I think it is because of companies such as Monsanto, that not only make the seed, but all the pesticides, fertilizers and other things needed to grow them.

Studies on GMOs have proven they cause many health problems, allergies, stomach problems and infertility.

The public should make the determination if those things are what they want to eat, or feed their children and their animals.

Sen. Collins will not be getting my vote, and I will work hard to see she is never elected again
