LEWISTON — Rita J. Beaudoin, 80, of 140 Ash St., Lewiston, passed away peacefully Friday, May 31, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with her family by her side.
She was born in Lewiston, July 21, 1932, a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Yvonne (Roy) Fontaine. She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended St. Mary’s school in Lewiston. On Aug. 9, 1952, Rita married her first husband, Alfred Latuscha and together they raised six children.
Rita gained much self-satisfaction as a certified nurses’ assistant for St. Mary’s, helping people for more than 34 years. On Aug. 22, 1978, she married her second husband, Lionel Beaudoin. Rita loved playing cards and the dice game on Tuesday nights with family. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed going to Old Orchard Beach, solving puzzles and word searches.
She especially loved spending time with her family, as her family was everything to her. If you were going out to lunch, you might often find her at one of her two favorite places to eat: Simones Hotdogs, or Edward’s.
Her true passion was being able to nurse others back to health. She will always be remembered for her unbelievable strength to overcome the many trials of life.
Rita is survived by her six children, Linda Boucher and her husband, Claude, of Lewiston, Diann Akerley and her husband, Scott, of Lewiston, Janis Sylvester and her husband, David, of Greene, John Latuscha and his wife, Anne, of Lewiston, Carol Latuscha of Lewiston and Robert Latuscha and his wife, Annie, of Lewiston; her brother, Robert Fontaine, and her sister, Joan Baril and her husband, Pierre, all of Lewiston; as well as 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
