PERU — The Board of Selectmen on Monday tabled a request by Mike Mickeria to replace one of two mobile homes on a half acre lot on Auburn Road.
When the site plan for the mobile homes was approved 20 years ago it erroneously said the lot was 1.1 acres. Selectmen said Monday that the lot is not big enough for two trailers and they will consult with the town attorney before making a decision.
The board granted building permits to James Poirier of Gammon Road for a woodshed, Erik Klinteback for a garage off Mountain View Drive and Ken Gill for a garage and deck to a house on Ada Avenue.
Selectmen Lee Merrill and Jim Pulsifer said they toured town cemeteries and found some broken stones from years ago. The board decided to ask the cemetery committee if volunteers could be recruited to fix the stones.
Town Clerk Vera Parent reminded voters that Thursday, June 6, is the last day to get absentee ballots for the June 11 elections and referendum. Voting will take place at the Town Office from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Jim Pulsifer, Ed Ferland and Kurt Rowley are seeking a three-year term as selectman, and Valerie Taylor and Angela Barkhouse are running for secretary to the Board of Selectmen.
In open session, Larry Porter complained that town road employees harassed him by revving the engine on a town truck in front of his house on Sunday evening. He said he thought it was retaliation for a complaint he made about the road department at last week’s selectmen’s meeting.
Selectmen said they would check out his complaint.
