LEWISTON — Real L. Roux, 88, of 597 Riverside Drive, Auburn, died June 1, at d’Youville Pavilion.

He was born in Lewiston, June 7, 1924, the son of the late Joseph and Arthemise (Vaillancourt) Roux. In his younger years, he was a member of the St. Mary’s Cadets. He was educated in the Lewiston school system and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1944 after serving two years of active duty during World War II.

He worked at Twin City Printery for 30 years. While working at the print shop, he enrolled in a summer session course at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Pa. He later took a color separation course in camerawork at Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Auburn. After retiring from the print shop in 1986, he worked at Bedard’s Pharmacy. He retired from the pharmacy in 2006 after 20 years of service.

His hobbies included playing golf, listening to music on his stereo system, oil painting, working on his computer and spending time with all of his relatives, especially his nieces and nephews, whom he loved so very much. He was always quick with a joke and a smile and his laughter will be sadly missed.

He leaves behind his nieces, Joyce Gavitt of Portland, Nancy Simard of Wells and Roxanne Poitras of Gorham; his nephews, Carl Delekto of Oxford and Paul Roux of Palm Coast, Fla.; his great-nieces, Catherine Nolan of Auburn, Sarah Douglas of Cumberland, Casey Cote of Frenchville, Haley and Emma Poitras of Gorham and Jeannine, Danielle and Brianna Roux of Palm Coast, Fla.; and great-nephews, Calvin Bowie of Auburn, David Gavitt of Portland and Blake Roux of Palm Coast, Fla.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Carmen Roux Delekto; his brother, Armand Roux, and his niece, Carleen Delekto Bowie.
