Verso Paper Corp.’s Androscoggin Mill in Jay recently donated to the American Legion, George Bunten Post 10, to ensure that the Memorial Day parade that has marched through Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls since the end of World War I, still took place this year. Because of insurance requirements that cost $600 and a fundraising shortfall, the parade was being cancelled. The donation was made at the Jay War Memorial in Chisholm Square, where Legion members fly flags from May 1 to Veterans Day. Androscoggin Mill Human Resources Manager Mike Luciano, center, presents a check for the parade insurance to Don Simoneau and Andy Gerrier.
