DIXFIELD — A farewell open house for RSU 10 Superintendent Tom Ward planned for Thursday has been canceled because of scheduling problems.

However, parents, staff, colleagues and other community members are invited to visit Ward’s office anytime Friday, June 14, to wish him well before he leaves to become superintendent of RSU 9 in Farmington on July 1.

The RSU 10 Central Office is in the former Dixfield Elementary School on Nash Street.

Ward will succeed Michael Cormier, who is retiring.

Craig King, an Aroostook County native and principal of Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham, will succeed Ward.

Ward served as superintendent of the former SAD 21 for six years before RSU 10 was formed. He said taking the job at RSU 9 was like “going home.” He graduated from Mt. Blue High School and was principal there for several years.
