FARMINGTON — Registrations are being taken for most of Farmington Recreation Department’s summer youth programs. Swim programs and Hippach Field playground registrations begin June 17. All are being accepted at the Farmington Community Center on Middle Street.
* Mommy and Me swim lessons and the Wading Pool Program at the Hippach Field pool.
* The Sumner P. Mills Swim Program for ages 7 to 18 is held in the pool at the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. The registration fee is subsidized by the Sumner P. Mills Trust Fund, and the towns of Farmington, Industry, New Sharon and Chesterville fund the tuition charge for their residents.
* Hippach Field Playground for ages 7 to 10 takes place from June 24 to Aug. 16. It offers structured and free play opportunities. Registration begins at 4 p.m. June 17 at the Farmington Community Center. Registration appointments may be made by calling the Recreation Department.
* Mountain Biking Challenge for ages 12-17 is held from July 8 to 11 with instructor Greg Veayo. Registration begins June 10.
* Youth Self Defense for ages 7 to 12 is held Wednesdays from June 26 to Aug. 7 with instructor Ron Small.
* “Futbol” Boot Camp for ages 9 to 15 is held July 1, 2, 3 and 5. It is an advanced soccer camp that builds skill development and teaches team strategies and holds scrimmages.
* Supervised Fishing for ages 6 to 10 takes place on July 3 at Rollo Pond on the campus of the University of Maine at Farmington.
* Tennis Instruction for ages 7 to 12 is held in two sessions, July 9 to 25, and July 30 to Aug. 15 at the Hippach Field tennis courts.
* Elementary Grades Lacrosse for ages 9 to 12 takes place from July 8 to 24 at the Hippach Field.
* Play Ball! for ages 5 to 8 takes place from July 8 to 24 and helps youngsters develop their baseball or softball skills.
* Summer Sampler for ages 9 to 11 is a new program geared to appeal to children who don’t gravitate to traditional team sports.
* Junior Volleyball Program for ages 13 to 18 is a six-week program designed to develop interest and playing abilities of the junior level volleyball player.
* Introduction to Mountain Biking, ages 10 to 12, includes two sessions, July 15, 17, 22 and 24 and Aug. 12, 14, 19, 22.
* Preseason Soccer Camp, ages 6 to 12, from Aug. 5 to 8, a night soccer camp devoted to skills development.
