MECHANIC FALLS — Voters on Tuesday approved a $2.2 million budget to operate the town for the new fiscal year, beginning July 1.

While the approved budget calls for spending about $205,000 less than the current year’s operating budget, the effect on local property taxes, as estimated by Town Manager John Hawley, could be about $238 on a property assessed at $100,000.

Voters also elected Louis Annance and Stephen Bolduc to three-year seats on the Town Council.

Annance won with 137 votes.

Bolduc drew 100 votes, and the third candidate in the three-way race, Roger Guptill, received 75 votes.

Mary Martin and Aaron Ouellette were elected to three-year terms on the RSU 16 School Committee with 170 and 135 votes, respectively. Martin ran unopposed for a second term on the board while Ouellette replaced Jessica Smith, who chose not to seek re-election.

Michael Baird and Gary Purington were named to the Sanitary District Board of Trustees with 143 and 152 votes, respectively.

A total of 188 residents cast ballots.
