DEAR SUN SPOTS: The mission meal program at the Calvary United Methodist Church at 59 Sabattus St. in Lewiston is looking for volunteers.

We cook and serve a dinner meal each Wednesday afternoon and breakfast each Sunday morning.

We are hoping to widen our pool of volunteers. If you have any culinary skills, or any experience with keeping inventory and ordering supplies related to meal planning and good nutrition, we would love to meet you.

We have been offering this program to our friends in the neighborhood for about 10 years now. We are supported by a small grant from the United Methodist Church as a startup 10 years ago.

We are able to continue this work with the help of the Good Shepherd Food-Bank, donations of bread products from Country Kitchen and donations of coffee cups from the staff at Central Maine Imaging. The Park Avenue United Methodist Church continues to be an invaluable partner in this mission.

We are so grateful to have many friends in the community and surrounding area who volunteer and contribute to our program as well.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the May 27 letter concerning DonnKenny woman’s pants, I, too, am a wearer of that brand. They were taken out of the store, but could be ordered from the catalog. Now they don’t have a catalog, or even the department.

I was told you could go to any cash register and the clerk could look it up and you could order right there, but that does not give you much information. The last ones I ordered that way are not the same material as the older ones. I have some at least 20 years old.

JC Penney, now JCP, is not the store it used to be. Thank you. — B. Morris, Auburn

ANSWER: The change in merchandise of the new JCP that was part of the revamping effort did not go well. So the JCP board rehired the previous CEO. Perhaps he will bring back the DonnKenny pants.

Sun Spots searched for DonnKenny at jcpenney.com and Alfred Dunner items came up instead. Perhaps other readers have found a local source for those pants.

Meanwhile, you can order from the catalog for Old Pueblo Traders, oldpueblotraders.blair.com. You can contact customer service at 800-362-8410 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to request a catalog.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are writing regarding the recent question you published regarding a local company that will clean once the owners have moved and prior to the house being up for sale (May 27). We specialize in move out cleans which would include items that need to be disposed of or donated to local areas to recycle. We would love to be considered for any work that the customer in Auburn would need. Thank you for passing this information along. — Carey Zembas, Rose’s Commercial Cleaning, 478 Sabattus St., Lewiston, 786-4052

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am writing about the person in Auburn asking if someone removes contents from a house after the owners have moved out. I do odd jobs including house clean-outs of trash, furniture, etc. Thanks. — D.B.’s Odd Jobs, 240-4719
