The Jay Fire Department recently honored Ed Black, second from right, for 50 years of service. He joined the department in 1963 and has served as a firefighter and also a few years as fire chief in the late 1980s. He retired this past week from the department, but will still be issuing burn permits and assisting with inspections. He was presented a retirement clock on behalf of the department by Public Safety Director Larry White and Assistant Fire Chief Mike Booker, far right. Town Manager Ruth Cushman and the Jay Board of Selectpersons also attended the ceremony and thanked him for his many years of service. A lunch and retirement cake were served. From left are Safety Officer Richard Cook, Jay firefighter Lyle Laplante, Black and Booker.
