LEWISTON — Women, Work and Community is offering a free, eight-week workshop titled Creating Your Future — Career Planning for the New Economy.

It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Thursday from July 15 to Aug. 8 at University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College in Lewiston. There will be an orientation from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11. Class dates are July 15, 18, 22, 25 and 29, and Aug. 1, 5 and 8.

Attendees will explore their values and interests, uncover their transferable skills, and develop concrete steps to move ahead in their work lives. They will explore locally growing job sectors and identify the skills, education and/or training needed to launch a new career or find the job that is right. Assistance with resume building and job seeking will also be provided.

For unemployment insurance recipients, this class has been preapproved by the UI Commission and exempts training participants from a job search during the class.
