SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Air Force Airman Jeremy A. Dwyer and Air National Guard Airman 1st Class David B. Hobson graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Dwyer is the former ward of Dot Gauthier and nephew of Norris Dwyer, both of West Road, Bowdoin. He is a 2012 graduate of Mount Ararat High School, Topsham.

Hobson is the son of Julie Hobson of Academy Road, Monmouth. He is a 2010 graduate of Monmouth Academy.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The following  local residents have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldiers studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Army Pvt. Randy J. Drouin is the grandson of Pauline Roberge of High Street, Berlin, N.H., and Gene Drouin of Scribner Boulevard, Lewiston, Maine. He is also the brother of Trisha Ewalt of Charron Avenue, Berlin, N.H. He is a 2012 graduate of Berlin High School, N.H.

Army Reserve Pfc. Benjamin S. Wittman is the son of Dyanna Wittman of High Street Windham, Maine, and Elmer Wittman of Candia Road, Chester, N.H. He is the nephew of Timothy Wittman of Bel Air, Md. He is a 2008 graduate of Windham High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Joseph M. Robitaille is a 2008 graduate of Lisbon High School, Lisbon Falls.

Army Reserve Pvt. Tyler R. Jennings is the son of Cindy and Tim Jennings of Washington Street, Auburn. He is a 2011 graduate of Edward Little High School, Auburn.

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Army National Guard Pvt. Jeffrey N. Taylor has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Taylor is the son of Scott Taylor of McKenny Drive, New Gloucester, and Cindy O’Brien of Land of Nod Road, Windham. He is a 2011 graduate of Gray-New Gloucester High School.

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. — Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Charles J. Rothbacher has graduated from the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power School at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command.

Nuclear Power School is a rigorous six-month course that trains officer and enlisted students in the science and engineering fundamental to the design, operation, and maintenance of naval nuclear propulsion plants.

Graduates next undergo additional instruction at a prototype training unit before serving as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard a nuclear-powered surface ship or as an Electronics Technician aboard a nuclear-powered submarine.

Rothbacher is the son of Catherine Reed of Cranberry Way, Bowdoinham. He is a 2009 graduate of Mount Ararat High School, Topsham.
