It would appear that Auburn’s superintendent of schools might like to lay off 28 of the school bus drivers to save $300,000 and turn the bus driving over to a subcontractor.

What about the safety of the children?

Also, some of the people she is about to lay off live in Auburn and pay taxes, yet she will cut their pay and benefits in these bad times when jobs should be created.

Those bus drivers have worked hard for the city and deserve more respect.

Maybe the superintendent should take a cut in pay, along with all the other top fat cats who get paid very well.

The School Committee should leave the bus drivers alone.
