MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — Kaitlyn Oldknow of Poland was recently inducted into the Lambda Xi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Morrisville State College.

EASTON, Mass. — Auburn resident Emily Dumont, a member of the Stonehill College Class of 2014, was inducted into the Kappa Mu Epsilon Honor Society.

Kappa Mu Epsilon was founded in 1931 to promote excellence in the study of mathematics. Today, the society has chapters at 150 chapters in 35 states.

Dumont also was inducted into the Theta Alpha Kappa Honor Society.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Katelyn Beeckel of Turner was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Beeckel was initiated at University of Southern Maine.

Beeckel is among approximately 32,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership.

BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College held its annual Honors Day ceremony May 8. The following local students were recognized for their achievements.

Anna Chase of Dixfield, a member of the Class of 2013, was awarded the Donald and Harriet S. Macomber Prize in Biology.

Evelyn Dickinson of Bowdoin, a member of the Class of 2014, was awarded the James Malcolm Moulton Prize in Biology.

Jessica Turner of Bryant Pond, a member of the Class of 2013, was awarded the Community Service Award in Environmental Studies.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Bob Jones University recently announced Kristin Andrews of Sumner as a recipient of the BJU Legacy Scholarship.

The BJU Legacy Scholarship is awarded to students who have at least one parent who graduated from BJU. The award provides up to $1,000 per year, for a maximum of $4,000 over eight semesters.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Bob Jones University recently announced the latest recipients of the BJU Academic Excellence and Leadership Award. The Academic Excellence and Leadership Award recognizes student leaders who achieve an ACT score above 25 before entering college and maintain a 3.2 GPA during their college years. The award provides up to $1,500 per year, for a maximum of $6,000 over eight semesters.
