FARMINGTON — Set in 1938 against the darkness of Nazi, Germany, “About Face” is the story of a young man (Karl Kessler) who is torn between the propaganda of the Hitler Youth Movement and the values of his Christian family. Emotion-packed, it is a riveting drama of good vs. evil, truth vs. falsehood, turmoil, struggle and hope.

The teens of the New Hope Baptist Church have been working diligently on this drama, written by Robert Henninger, since February. A great deal of research has gone into the elaborate set and authentic costumes.

Due to the large number of teens involved, some of the characters have been double cast. Cast members include Brian Hand (Herr Kessler), Destiney Decker and Heather Wheeler (Frau Kessler), Austin Winters (their son, Karl), Parker Bachelder and Marissa Yates (their daughter, Gretchen), Faith Bishop and Keirra Yates (their younger daughter, Heidi), Matt Parker (Herr Meyer), Rachel Roy and Janna Winslow (Frau Meyer), Lydia Doyle (daughter, Anna), Hunter Bachelder and Zeke Bishop (SS officer, Herr Krieger), Megan Howell (Narrator), Seth Johnson (Hitler) and Jon  Rebert (Officer). Church members are played by Kristin Andrews, Ruth Andrews, Logan Decker, Michael Marr and Daniel Parker.

“About Face” is best suited for older school-aged children through adults. Admission is free. The play will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, June 20-23, at the New Hope Baptist Church, 268 Perham St. For more information call 778-9696.
