WALES — RSU 4 Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said he’s trimmed $160,000 from the proposed 2013-14 school budget. He’ll ask directors to weigh in on it, and set a new budget vote on Wednesday.
A $17.7 million budget was defeated this past Tuesday during a referendum vote.
Hodgkin said he’s now tentatively anticipating $120,000 more from the state. Coupled with the cuts, the new budget comes in at $17,581,337.
It would lower the anticipated tax increase in Litchfield, Sabattus and Wales, but those new figures weren’t available Friday.
He also declined to detail the cuts in advance of the meeting except to say staff positions are involved.
RSU 4 directors will consider the new budget and whether to set a new budget vote for July 10 and referendum vote for July 16.
Wednesday’s special meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. at Oak Hill High School.
