A number of Lewiston businessmen have been discussing the advisability of a new fountain in Hospital square to replace the old iron fountain, smashed some weeks ago by a heavy oil team. It is probable that a petition asking for an ornamental fountain of marble or bronze, which will be an attraction in the city, will be circulated by these gentlemen. In the meantime, the wreck of the old fountain remains, practically where it fell after the team collided with it. Half an hour’s work by two or three men and the services of a pair of the city horses for that period would remove the unsightly object to a less conspicuous place.

The wagon train is coming! Seven covered wagons will leave the Waters Farm in Sutton, Mass., and spend a little over one week on the road headed north. The wagon train will make camp in Sanford, Buxton, Windham, Auburn and Turner before arriving at the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore as part of a combination outing and fundraising event planned to benefit three unique farms joined together by history and the journey.
