DEAR SUN SPOTS: If you had to choose between food and shampoo, which would you buy? Yet, how someone looks affects how they feel about themselves, and how others treat them, and whether they can go for a job interview.

You can help us help build the self-esteem of women by donating the hygiene items. We are nearly out of shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, sanitary pads (we do have loads of Tampons, thanks to Tambrands). We also take toothpaste and toothbrushes, lotion, bar soap, etc.

These are items we give away on a regular basis, and we have had a lot of women coming for things they need. Our stock is really low.

We are a day drop-in center for women, located off Bates Street between Pine and Ash streets, behind the Healy Terrace building. Enter the large parking lot and look for the large sign with a big sunflower on it. That is our door. We open at 9 a.m. Monday through Thursday, close at 3 p.m., except on Wednesday which is noon. DEAR SUN SPOTS: I love your column and have used it several times. Now I’m looking for an Avon representative, as I would like to buy something and can’t find anyone.
