BANGOR — Marjorie Jean Buchanan, 83, of Wilton, passed away June 16, in Bangor, surrounded by her family, after a short illness.
She was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Industry, the daughter of Joel and Beatrice (Ferguson) Fletcher. Jean enjoyed spending time with family, friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to the horse races, doing puzzles, reading and visiting friends. She loved all shades of red. Jean certainly knew how to pinch pennies. Her working years were spent at Forster Manufacturing and Bass Shoe, until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Sargent and her husband, Chip, of Bangor; five sons, Russell Essman and his wife, Wanda, of Oklahoma, Peter Essman and his wife, Peggy, of Wilton, Eric Essman and his wife, Janet, of Virginia, Harold Essman and his wife, Joy, of Wilton and Kurt Essman and his wife, Cathy, of Iowa; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Linnell; and three brothers, Douglas Fletcher of Wilton, James Fletcher and wife, Paula, of Portland and William Hardy and his wife, Lona, of California.
She was predeceased by her two husbands, Harold Essman and Murdock Buchanan; three sons, Ronald, Carl and Olin Essman; her brother, Gordon; her sister, Ruth Hall; her parents; her dad, Joesph Hardy; and several grandchildren.
