The Nordica Homestead Museum on the Holley Road has opened for the season. The museum is the birthplace of internationally-famed opera diva Lillian Nordica (nee Norton). It is maintained by the Nordica Memorial Association and houses memorabilia of her stardom during the Golden Age of opera. Included in the collection are costumes, concert gowns, stage jewelry, paintings and much more. One recent acquisition is Madame Nordica’s personal operatic score of Wagner’s “Lohengrin.” It contains her hand-written notes as she was coached for the role of Elsa by Wagner’s widow, Cosima, daughter of Franz Liszt. The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. Group tours at other times can be arranged by appointment by calling 778-2042. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children, under 5 free. Madame Nordica is pictured at the height of her operatic career.
