POLAND — Veterans Of The Armed Forces will hold an open house and the inaugural Killed In Action Memorial Ride in honor of Army Sgt. First Class Shawn C. Dostie on Saturday, June 22.

Dostie was 32 from Lewiston and Turner, assigned to a combat team of the Army’s 101st Airborne Division. He was killed during patrol operations in Baghdad on Dec. 30, 2005.

A military ceremony for the Dostie family will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Minot Elementary School Gymnasium in Minot.

At 12:30 p.m. the ride will leave Minot Elementary School for a countryside ride to the VOTAF Club House, 206 Mechanic Falls Road, Route 121, Poland.

There is a $15 per person charge to participate in the ride and barbecue, with proceeds to benefit the KIA Program. You must be 21 years or older to enter the VOTAF Club House party.

This is a rain or shine event.

VOTAF RC is a veterans riding club open to military veterans who have an honorable discharge and have served at least two years or have served in a theater of combat. It is not a Harley exclusive club nor a law enforcement club.
