WILTON — The halls of the Academy Hill School will ring with the sound of children singing, dancing and laughing on Wednesday, June 26, when singer-songwriter Judy Pancoast presents a special program of music for the Wilton Free Public Library’s Summer Reading Program participants. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. in the Academy Hill School Gym. All are welcome to this free event.

Pancoast was nominated in 2011 for a Grammy for Best Children’s Album for her “Weird Things are Everywhere! A Reading Road Trip with Judy Pancoast” CD. She was born and raised in Waterville, but her music has taken her to 49 states and several foreign countries. She performed twice in concert at the request of President Bill Clinton.

A mother of two whose now-grown daughters performed with her as they were growing up, Pancoast has a special bond with children and has many loyal fans, some of whom still keep in touch with her years after they’ve outgrown her music. Her library concert, designed for the Summer Reading “Dig in and Read” theme, puts the focus on gardening with songs such as “Bug Huntin’,” “Ladybug, Ladybug” and her new song, “I’m a Slug.”

Contact Cassie at 645-4831 at the Wilton Library for more information. This concert is the opening of the library’s Summer Reading Program titled “Bee A Bookworm!”

Following her performance, Pancoast will give each child a personally autographed photo in a “meet and greet” session. Families will also have the opportunity to purchase copies of her CDs. For more information about Judy Pancoast, visit www.judypancoast.com.
