JAY — A Mass of Christian Burial for Rolande Purington of Jay was celebrated on Monday at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, with friend, the Rev. Roger Chabot, celebrant. Pallbearers were Billy, Leanne, Nathan, Jayde and Cassandra Purington and Matthew Smith and the Daughters of Isabella led the procession and recession in church. The readings were done by Claudette Jackson and Melissa Fournier. The gifts were brought forward to the altar by sons, Chris and Ken Purington. Hymns sung by the Resurrection Choir were, “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling,” “Morning Has Broken,” “Shelter Me, O’God,” “You Are Mine,” “Ave Maria,” “Take Her Hand” and “Lord, Let Your Servant Go In Peace.” Following Mass, the family hosted a time of fellowship and refreshment in the St. Rose Parrish Hall. Arrangements by the Wiles Remembrance Center.
