(Editorial) The courtesy parking ticket for out-of-state violators of twin city parking regulations makes a good deal of sense. While some local residents may be inclined to view this as “discriminatory,” it basically is sound not to alienate strangers in our midst who may have different types of parking rules in their home communities than those that prevail here. Fundamentally, the “courtesy” traffic tag is one instance where we can help our home cities by showing our willingness to give a stranger the “break” we cannot claim for ourselves.

Work has already begun on the Auburn Fire Department’s training building behind the fire station. Firefighters have dug test holes in preparation for construction of the two-and-a-half story building. Coordinated by Pvt. Dick Brown, firefighters are voluntarily “supplying a lot of the labor and are dong an awful lot of running around.” Firefighters have worked on their days off or during free time at the station to help with the project.
