1941 – 2013

NEW SHARON — Robert W. Mayo, 71, of New Sharon, died early Thursday evening, June 20, at his home in New Sharon, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1941, in Lewiston, the son of Evelyn Oliver. He attended schools in East Dixfield.

On Dec. 29, 1972 he married Helen Parsons. They made their home in New Sharon for over the last 35 years. Bob worked primarily in the logging business throughout his entire life, mainly in trucking.

He enjoyed stock car racing as a younger man in the 1970s and in fairly recent years that love of racing moved onto the go-cart track. He also was involved in the local Masonic Lodge and especially enjoyed time spent with his family, including his dogs, DJ and Angel “Little Girl.”

Bob is survived by his wife, Helen, of New Sharon; children, Debbie Pratt of Jay, Wayne Mayo and his wife, Suzanne, of New Sharon, Susan Mayo of Livermore Falls, Ronnie Littlefield and his wife, Robin, of Belfast, Kenny Littlefield and his wife, MaryAnne, of Chesterville, Stephen Littlefield of Belfast, Randy Littlefield and his wife, Penney, of New Sharon and Terry Littlefield and his wife, MarieAnne, of Livermore; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Bishop of the Victorian Villa Nursing Home in Canton and Pat Wilcox and her husband, Clark, of Chesterville; special nieces, Cathy Keene and Cindy Stevens. He was predeceased by his parents; two grandsons, Tommy and Stephen Littlefield.
