DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for “Peppy the Puppet.” Peppy was handed out to children who were admitted to Central Maine General Hospital (now Central Maine Medical Center) in the early 1960s — 1961 to 1963 or so.

They were hand puppets, and thousands of them were made by the women from CMGH’s Woman’s Hospital Association.

If anyone has a photo or one of the puppets or worked on the pattern, please contact me. I would love to take a picture of it for my display for the WHA’s 125th celebration this fall. — June van Mourik, whahistory1888@gmail.com, 782-6084

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In regard to the disabled woman who needed things to fix up her basement (June 12), or for anyone looking for or wishing to get rid of free items, a good source is LA Freecycle.

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LA_Freecycle/ and join the group so you can make your request. If anyone has what you’re asking for, you will receive an email.

The group moderator is a local person, and you can specify to which local towns you are willing to go pick up something. I’ve used the service, and it works! — Pat Malcolm, pmalcpoet@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A Victoria wrote in requesting secondhand furnishings. We have a 41-inch countertop with sink and faucet that we would love to donate.

If she is interested and lives locally, she can contact me by email or phone. We live in Sabattus and my phone number is 375-8105 after 5 p.m. Thank you. — Maureen, reeniesab1@aol.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Victoria, No Town wrote in a request for toilet, sink, etc. in your column of June 12. I have a toilet and sink I would give her, but these items are too heavy for me to lift and to transport, so I could not get them to her or to the Buildings Materials Exchange.

I do not get the paper every day so might not see a reply. If she can figure out a way to come and get them, perhaps she could call me at 562-7305.

Thanks for all the help you are doing for the community. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots is surprised and pleased to hear that the Fuller Brush “man” is still around. She went to fuller.com and checked out the “original” collection, where items that have been sold for decades are featured.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am an Avon Lady and would like to contact Theresa who wrote June 18. She can call me at 998-2646. Please have her leave a message if I am not home. I live just off Minot Avenue. Love your column and read it first thing every morning. Hopefully, she will get this message. Thank you. — Joline Gayton, avonlady41@roadrunner.com
