BUCKFIELD — George L. Bilodeau Jr., 79, of Buckfield, passed away Monday, June 17, at his home.
He was born in Gorham, N.H., April 3, 1934, to George L. Bilodeau Sr. and Veronica Derosier Bilodeau. He joined the military at the age of 17, spent 22 years in the Navy and built a career of which he was very proud. He retired as a chief petty officer.
In 2010, he received his bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Southern Maine. He worked for many years as a master electrician and was an all around Mr. Fix-It.
As an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting and was happiest knee-deep in a river casting his fly rod. George loved spending time with his five grandchildren, Tibbetts, Franklin and Angus Bilodeau, along with Mark and Charlotte Soucie.
His wife, the former Mary Abbott survives him; three children, Lawrence Bilodeau, Elizabeth Soucie and Debra Kalita; two sisters, Lois George and Margaret Ellis; and two brothers, James Bilodeau and Ronald Bilodeau.
He was predeceased by four sisters; and two brothers.
