LEWISTON — On May 18, 43 individuals left Lewiston for an eight-day trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., sponsored by the Lewiston Senior Citizens. The trip started with some free time in the Baltimore Harbor area in Maryland. The group attended seven different musical variety shows in Pigeon Forge. Members of the group were enlisted to be part of a number of the shows.

On the return trip, the group stopped in Roanoke, Va., to shop and visit the museum. On May 25, the group stopped in Washington, D.C. There was time to visit the Franklin Roosevelt Memorial, the Martin Luther King Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial.

The Lewiston Seniors met on May 3 for their monthly meeting and an ice cream social. The Fortin Group provided the ice cream sundaes. Winners for mother and father of the year were Cindy Boyd and Willie Danforth. They each received a small gift. The winner of the scholarship award for a graduating high school student and child or grandchild of a member was Jacob Boyd.

The seniors will hold a fun day on Aug. 8 at Lost Valley where there will be bingo, outdoor games, a meal, music by DJ Marcel Gagne, door prizes and raffles. Cost is $15 for members and $16 for nonmembers. All are welcome.

The following trips are planned for the coming months:

June 27, Charles River Boat Cruise with lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and shopping at the Galleria Mall. Cost is $77.

Aug. 1, Boothbay Botanical Gardens with lunch included, $57.

Sept. 7, Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, $50.

Sept. 9, Danny O’Donnell, $94.

Sept. 27 to Oct. 1, Ottawa and the Thousand Islands, includes four-night lodging, seven meals and more, $529, deposit of $75 due at signing.
