TURNER — Barry B. Quimby, 68, a resident of Mill Hill Road, Turner, passed away peacefully Monday, June 24, at home with his family by his side.

He was born March 13, 1945, in Livermore, the son of Donald L. Quimby and Irene (Bryant) Quimby. He attended school in Turner. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

On March 18, 1989, at his home in Turner, he married his wife of 24 years, Pauline A. Beaulieu. Barry worked as truck manager for W.D. Matthews for 35 years in Auburn and also owned and operated Barry Quimby Excavation.

He was a member of the Nezinscot Lodge 101 in Turner and a member of the American Legion Post 111 in Auburn. Barry loved anything to do with the outdoors, and the only time you would see Barry come inside was for mealtime. He loved working with his excavator and dump truck, hunting, fishing, boating, 4-wheeling, riding motorcycles with friends, camping, especially at their favorite place “Kokadjo.” He also enjoyed bowling and traveling. He also loved sitting in his garage visiting with his friends telling stories.

Barry greatest joy however, was spending time with his grandchildren, family and his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Quimby; daughter, Carin Quimby; son, Jason Quimby; brothers, Lester “Butch” Quimby and his companion, Glenda Clark and Eric Quimby and companion, Mary Rose, all of Turner; his sisters, Donna Dagneau of Kissimmee, Fla., Ilene Swett and her husband, Linwood, of Turner and Vicky Bourisk and her husband, Toby, of Portland; sister-in-law, Sharon Quimby of Turner; and grandchildren, Kevin, Cora Lynn, Jon, Heather, MacKenzie, and Hunter.

He was predeceased by his sister, Janet Hutchinson; brother, Craig Quimby; and brothers-in-law, Ron Hutchinson and Lou Dagneau.
