JAY — Police are investigating home and motor vehicle burglaries reported Monday and Tuesday. A rifle, a wallet and prescription medications are among the items stolen.

Detective Richard Caton IV and officer Russell Adams responded to a report of a burglary at 2:30 p.m. Monday at a house on Main Street. Entry was gained by force, Caton said Tuesday.

A .30-30 Winchester rifle and prescription medications were stolen. The value of the items is more than $400, he said.

“We are pursuing leads,” he said.

Adams responded to motor vehicle burglaries on Tuesday at Reservoir Road and Jewell Street.

A truck with a cap on it that was parked at a house on Jewell Street and had a Husqvarna chain saw taken from the back of it. It was a fairly new chain saw and is valued at about $400, Adams said.

A motor vehicle parked in a garage on Reservoir Road was entered and a wallet and electronics were stolen, he said. The doors to the garage were left open.

Both vehicles were unlocked.
