JAY — Gene and Cheryl Uhuad of Jay are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Elaine Uhuad of Norwalk, Conn., to David James Hewitt of Norwalk, Conn., son of Tim and Wendy Hewitt of Old Orchard Beach.

Miss Uhuad is also the granddaughter of Peggy McDonald of Jay. She is a graduate of Jay High School and attended the University of New England, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in medical biology. She also has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine. She currently works at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn., as a heart and vascular registered nurse. She is currently enrolled at Sacred Heart University pursuing a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner.

Mr. Hewitt is also the grandson of Ben and Kay Thompson of Gig Harbor, Wash. He is a graduate of Old Orchard Beach High School and attended the University of Maine at Orono, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance. He is currently working for the federal government in the Social Security Administration in Middletown, Conn.

The wedding will be held at 4 p.m. on April 26, 2014, in Negril in Jamaica.
