LEBANON — Five people were injured late Sunday in a two-car accident on Route 111 in York County, according to officials.
The accident was reported around 6:30 p.m., according to Lebanon Rescue Assistant Chief Jason Cole, whose unit was the first on scene.
Cole said the driver of an eastbound Nissan Altima was attempting to turn left into a driveway and collided with a westbound Dodge Stratus.
The impact sent the Altima spinning into a ditch while the Stratus came to rest in the eastbound lane, Cole said.
The driver of the Stratus, a 19-year old woman from Lebanon and her 12-month old female passenger were transported to Frisbie Hospital in Rochester, N.H., for treatment, Cole said.
The Altima’s operator, an 18-year old man from Rochester, was taken to Goodall Hospital in Sanford for treatment, along with his two passengers, a 20-year old man from Rochester and a 19-year old woman from Dover, N.H., Cole explained.
All five occupants of the vehicles were wearing seat belts. The highway was closed to traffic until 7:35 p.m. while crews cleaned up the scene.
