BANGOR — A local man is in jail Monday after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend over the weekend, according to police.

Officers arrived at a Griffin Road residence shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday when it was reported that Michael Pyle, 39, and a woman engaged in an argument that quickly escalated, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

When Officer Derek Laflin was questioning the woman, Pyle came out, and Laflin had to separate the pair, the sergeant said.

Edwards said that earlier in the evening, Pyle assaulted the woman during an argument and also head-butted her.

Pyle was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault. The woman was not injured, Edwards said.
