DEAR SUN SPOTS: My older brother and I used to sing a song when we were young. It was about a “little red patch on the seat of my trousers.” All we can remember is that line.

Anyone out there ever hear of this little ditty and have the words? We are having a family reunion this summer and would like to sing it for the younger generations. Thank you. — Gail via email

ANSWER: According to Internet sources, the song was written by Wilf Carter, who was also known as “Montana Slim.” It was also sung by various “cowboys,” including Tex Ritter.

Carter’s recording is on several sites, including YouTube at http://tinyurl.com/m8q2uh7

Sun Spots found plenty of sites talking about the song and the recordings, but no lyrics. Several of the sites are offering little rewards (points on their websites) for anyone who supplies them, but no one has done so yet.

You could keep listening to it over and over again, of course, and write down the lyrics yourself.

Or perhaps a reader has them from old sheet music.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am still collecting antique and classic cameras. Can you ask your readership if there is any one else out there who enjoys collecting and/or restoring cameras to contact me about the idea of sharing information and advice? Thanks! — Steve C., 891-1851, ifga92@yahoo.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots suspects that many people who graduated from high school in 1943 probably have not joined the computer age. Providing a phone number and/or mailing address is always a good idea if you want the maximum number of responses.
