BREWER — A local woman is facing multiple charges after a shoplifting spree at Marden’s on Saturday, police said.
Sherrilyn Kenney, 27, not only left the Brewer department store with $234 worth of unpaid items, but altered price tags on an additional $247 worth of merchandise, Brewer police Capt. Chris Martin said.
Kenney had paid for the items that she altered price tags on, Martin said, but store security observed her placing merchandise in her purse and called police.
When Kenney left the store, police were waiting for her outside, Martin said, and instead of cooperating, she resisted.
Kenney was arrested and charged with theft, disorderly conduct and refusing to submit to arrest, Martin said.
She was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail.
