NORWAY — Occupy Oxford Hills will host two short films about U.S. wars at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, at Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St., in anticipation of discussion at the public interest forum at 7 p.m. on July 18 led by anti-war activist Lisa Savage.

“Arms for the Poor” is a documentary made more than 10 years ago by Maryknoll World Productions. It highlights weapons makers’ hold on Congress enabling them to sell weapons to the developing world, also the destabilizing effects of weapons flooding into poor countries. Former Costa Rican President Oscar Arias, ex-congressperson Cynthia McKinney and the Dalai Lama are featured.

“James Steele: America’s Mystery Man in Iraq” is the U.K. Guardian newspaper’s recently released film of a retired U.S. Army colonel who organized death squads and torture centers during U.S. interventions in Central America and did the same during the U.S. occupation in Iraq.

Refreshments will be available at 6 p.m.

Discussion will follow the films.
