WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library will present The Beet Poets of Wayne in an evening of poetry, storytelling and music at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 19.

Jay Franzel writes thoughtful poems that often reflect the mystery of the natural world, but he also writes about coffee, Franz Kafka and the bridges of New York City where he grew up. He has worked with at-risk students for more than 20 years and currently teaches in Winthrop.

Stan Davis is the former host of the long-time Cabin Fever Reliever variety shows that were held at the Ladd Center every winter. He is a musician, singer and storyteller who had a long career as a family therapist and school counselor.

David Moreau has been on the library board in Wayne for the past 10 years and has hosted summer poetry programs with the motto, “Poetry that won’t put people off poetry.” He has published four books including “Sex, Death and Baseball” about the three great subjects of poetry. Moreau works in Lewiston with adults with developmental disabilities.

Admission is free. The library is at 17 Old Winthrop Road. For more information, call 207-685-3612.
