BATH — Despite belting out 13 hits and plating four runs in the top of the first inning, Pastime Club of Lewiston stalled Tuesday in its bid to earn the top seed in the Zone III American Legion baseball tournament, suffering a 5-4 loss to Smith-Tobey.

Smith-Tobey, which draws its players from Morse High School, got one run back in the second and four more in the fourth inning to complete the comeback. Aaron Barrett went the distance on the mound for the victory. Liam and Keegan McDonough led the home team with two hits and a double each.

Luke Cote, Corbin Hyde and Eddie Emerson each hit a double for Pastime (13-4). Hyde led all players with three hits.

Pastime will face Bessey Motors Thursday in the teams’ final game of the regular season to see which team will finish in second place and draw a first-round bye in the upcoming zone tournament.

Tri-Town 9, Highland Green 8

POLAND — Zach Johnson and Tanner Marston ripped two hits each as Tri-Town came away from a see-saw battle with a 9-8 win over Highland Green of Topsham on Tuesday.

Lukas Johnson also had a double for Tri-Town, which scored twice in the sixth and three more times in the seventh to come from four back late in the contest.

Billy Rascoe earned the win for the home team, which kept its playoff hopes alive with the win.
