MEXICO — Med-Care Ambulance Service will hosting a grand opening and open house Thursday, July 18, at its new building at 290 Highland Terrace.
The open house is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be three station tours, a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 11 to 11:15 a.m., a series of guest speakers from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and a social hour from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Plans for the new building began several years ago after the old building on Main Street was found to be out of compliance with code. In August 2012, the Planning Board unanimously approved the plan for a new building.
It is twice the size of the old one, with four bays for emergency vehicles, a living space for employees and a storage area.
Med-Care serves the towns of Andover, Byron, Canton, Carthage, Dixfield, Hanover, Mexico, Newry, Peru, Roxbury and Rumford.
