TEMPLE — Lightning struck a lamppost at a home on Lake Road on Wednesday night, traveled through the wiring and blew out the wall switch inside, fire Chief David True said.
“They were lucky,” True said of Don Nye and Katrazina Randall who live at 193 Lake Road on Staples Pond. The lamppost was about 30 feet from the house.
Firefighters from Temple and Farmington Fire and Rescue responded to the call at about 9 p.m. No other damage was found. True said they turned off the circuit breakers and suggested the owners call an electrician.
Firefighters returned to the station by 10 p.m.
