FARMINGTON — A Chesterville man is accused of having sexual contact with a child younger than 18 several years ago.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Detective Ken Charles arrested Jeffrey J. Mitchell, 39, on Wednesday on a felony charge of unlawful sexual contact and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful sexual touching, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said Thursday.
Charles received information from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services earlier this month and began an investigation, he said.
Mitchell was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington and released on $3,000 unsecured bail.
He is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court Sept. 11.
