MECHANIC FALLS — Ginni B. Timberlake passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and children, on Friday, July 19, at the age of 73.
She was born Jeannette Berta McAllister on June 5, 1940, the daughter of Emery and Esther (Brown) McAllister.
She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1957 at the age of 16, valedictorian of her class, member of the National Honor Society, band, glee club, Future Homemakers of America, and captain of the basketball team, as well as sports editor of the yearbook.
Ginni worked hard her entire life, helping her parents run McAllister News, McAllister’s Grain Store, and their chicken farm, continuing the news and grain operations right up until her death. She worked many other jobs, including Belgrade Shoe, Gould & Scammon and Hudson RPM.
She was married to her first husband, True C. Ridley Sr., from 1958 to 1967, having four of her six children with him. She found love again and married Thomas W. Timberlake in 1970, living for a few years in Elizabethtown, Pa., before returning to her childhood home in Maine around the time of the birth of their second daughter.
Ginni took great pleasure in reading, gardening, baking, hiking and traveling in the USA and Europe with her family. She loved having her family together and used any excuse for a party.
She volunteered as a Boy Scout den mother and/or a Girl Scout troop leader right up though cadets for many years with each of her six children. She was always surrounded by animals and was a lover of horses and birds. She will be greatly missed by her dog, Sammy.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; one son, True Ridley and his wife, Tykey, of Hebron; five daughters, Jodie Bean of Minot, Julie Goodell and her husband, Miles, of Minot, Jeana McCannell and her husband, Dick, of Monmouth, Maia Freeman of Monmouth, and Diana Timberlake and her partner, Tracy Morrison, of Sabattus; 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her good friend, Richard Kyllonen.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her close friends, Bob Merrill and Alta McIntosh.
