ROANOKE, Va. — Twyla Virginia (Gordon) Caya of Roanoke, Va., died July 19, at Friendship Manor, where she was a resident of the independent living apartments.

She was born in Worthington, Ohio, March 3, 1920, the daughter of Roy and Olive Gordon. The third of 12 children, Twyla graduated early from high school at the age of 16. She attended two years of college majoring in journalism.

Twyla raised eight children and later in life became a registered surgical fitter. She enjoyed traveling and going for Sunday drives; watching court television; reading, writing and painting; and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Mrs. Bert (Sharon) Lavoie, Mrs. Rick (Sandra) Jalbert, Mrs. Ron (Michele) Vachon, Mrs. Steve (Janelle) Mathieu, Mrs. Ted (Kathleen) Edwards and Mrs. Dan (Barbara) Bledsoe; her son and his wife, Melvin and Linda Wilson; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Twyla was predeceased by her husband, Benoit Caya; and her son, Michael Wilson.
