NORWAY — The staff at the Family Birthplace is holding an event to urge parents, caregivers and grandparents to make sure their child safety seats are properly installed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Certified child safety technicians will be available to provide free hands-on seat inspections.

In addition, Stephens Memorial Hospital serves as an inspection site and is one of several distribution sites for car seats in Maine. As a distribution site the hospital is authorized to provide car seats and boosters to families at no cost if they meet financial requirements.

To participate in the free car seat inspection, parents, caregivers and grandparents should stop by the high school on Aug. 10, preferably with the child in need of a seat. Child care will be available as needed.

For more information about the event, or for information on car seat safety, contact Carol Welsh at 743-1562, ext. 6951.
