FARMINGTON — George Theodore Pillsbury, 79, of 300 Whittier Road, Farmington departed for his heavenly home on Monday, July 22, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

He was born in Rangeley, Oct. 8, 1933. He was a graduate of Farmington High School and attended Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, Mass. He served as pastor of several Maine churches, taught in several Maine grade schools, was employed and retired from International Paper. He and his wife also owned and operated the local natural healing and herb store, “The End of the Rainbow” for many years.

He married the former Gloria Porter on Sept. 8, 1954, in Farmington Falls.

George was an avid Red Sox fan. He was well-known in this area for his fast softball pitching and continued to play for many years. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers and oldest son and visiting his children and grandchildren in Spain, California, Missouri, Virginia, and Colorado. He and his wife also spent many winters in Hawaii.

He leaves behind his loving wife and eight children; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Pillsbury of Anthem, Ariz.; and sisters, Pearl Greco of Farmington, Hope Goings of Farmington Falls, Ruby Faunce of Turner, Iris Allison of Annville, Pa., and Joyce Hassinger of Mashpee, Mass.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leon Pillsbury and Frances (Farren) Pillsbury; brothers, Edward, Verdell and Fred Pillsbury; and a sister, Helen James.
