WILTON — Police are looking for a vehicle seen leaving the area of a Village View home where copper was taken Thursday, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

The vehicle of interest is a black Chevrolet mid-80s model with a rusty bumper and a blue Chevy emblem on the front grill, she said.

A neighbor reported a suspicious vehicle leaving the area loaded with what appeared to be copper pipes at about 3 p.m. Thursday, she said.

Officer Billie Martin and Sgt. Chad Abbott went to the home and found copper pipes were missing from the basement. They had been freshly cut and tools were left behind, perhaps with an intent to return, she said.

Some copper was taken but it not all of the pipes were gone, she said.

The home is under bank foreclosure, but a couple is living there, she said.

Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to call the Wilton Police Department at 645-3876.
