Zoe and William

Giblin II

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah —  Zoe Katherine Lewis and William James Giblin II were married on June 8 at the Storm Mountain outdoor amphitheater in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake City, Utah. The bride is the daughter of Lori and Craig Lewis of Wilton and the bridegroom is the son of Mary Giblin and the late William Giblin of Binghamton, N.Y.

The bride is a graduate of Mt. Blue High School and Skidmore College. She received her MSW from the University of Utah. She is working as a therapist in Salt Lake City.

Mr. Giblin is a graduate of SUNY Wanakena in Environmental Science and Forestry and Metropolitan State College of Denver. He is an energy efficiency engineer with an energy consulting firm in Salt Lake City. Both have worked for many years in the wilderness adventure and wilderness therapy industries, which is how they first met.

The bride wore an elaborate polymer clay floral necklace she made herself. She carried bright colored Gerbera daisies, arranged by her mother. Their wedding featured the couple working together to create a fire using a bow string and drill, a technique they both used in the field in their wilderness work. Like a marriage, lighting a fire in this manner takes skill, commitment, perseverance and patience. The crowd cheered as the little ember began to smoke and eventually produced a roaring blaze. The backdrop for their ceremony was a wedding quilt, made by the bride’s mother, of kaleidoscope medallions representing the combined families and the couple’s new family. Harp music for the ceremony was performed by the bride’s mother. The reception featured musical performances to honor the couple by the bride’s parents, her brother, Ben and his wife, Bethany, and the bridegroom’s brother, Patrick. The bride, accompanied by her father, also sang a song for her new husband.

The bride’s honor attendants were her brother, Ben Lewis and his wife, Bethany Lewis, and their daugher, Ada, who was a flower girl. Other attendants were Ruth Schlein, Corrie Agnew, Ari Cook, Emily Jensco, Mary Rogers and Jack Ewald. Best man was Patrick Giblin, brother of the bridegroom. The bridegroom’s other attendants were his sisters, Maura Smith and Kathy Giblin, and Corey Smith, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Caryn Hanna, Mark Kenner, Matt Giblin, Dan Heinze, Jim Brundadge, Jim Silvestri, Roger Hedlund and Jesse Howerton. Willie Giblin and Shamus Smith, nephews of the bridegroom, were junior ushers. Kate Renny Smith, niece of the bridegroom, was a flower girl.

After their honeymoon in Dominica, the couple resides in Park City, Utah.
