TURNER – Don’t miss out on one of the most popular church suppers in the area when the North Turner Union Presbyterian Church puts on the annual chicken barbecue from 4 to 6 p.m. (or whenever the chicken runs out) on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the GAR Hall, Route 219.

As always, the church’s grill experts will be manning the charcoal while the cooks produce potato salad, pasta and fruit salads, cole slaw and all the other fixings that make for a summer barbecue. If the weather holds, there will be tables outside or diners can choose the inside as always.

This supper also gives folks a chance to place a bid on this year’s handmade quilt. It is on display in the hall and a bid sheet is available for those who want to enter the fray. The final bids will be taken at the Harvest Supper on Oct. 12, and the winner will be announced.

This is also the only supper that the church considers a drive through. There is no window, but anyone can make arrangements to have dinners “packed to go” if you would like to just drive by, pick up and be on your way.

For more information or to place an order, call 224-7913, 225-3370 or 224-7461. There is no set price but goodwill donations are taken at the door and are used to fund the church’s operational budget, including the Turner Food Bank, the Community Clothing Center and Sunday School programs.
